Greatest Most Powerful Mantra - Om Namo Bhagavate Vāsudevāya

The Greatest Most Powerful Highest Mantra
Mantra's come in many shapes and sizes. They all have specific functions and benefits. The greatest benefit, the yogi's claim, is to be able to find bliss apart from the temporary and physical. Personally, I'm not ready to give up my automobile. I've done that as a monk for several years and it was for the birds. But If you are, the highest mantra is Om Namo Bhagavate Vāsudevāya.

Yes, I gave that up pretty quickly. The reason I did so is because the words and the sounds are a tiny part of the Esoteric Magic behind the mantra. Translated into English, it means nothing more than, "Dear Lord, I respectfully worship you through your son and image, Krishna of Vasudeva."

To actually mean these words requires realizing that the "Flesh is of no use at all" - another Krishna, this time Jesus Christna.

Self Realization is about realizing that there is no self. It's not about getting to know yourself. It's about stripping away all your temporary identity issues to find what's truly at your core. Identity issues like, "I am a doctor. I am smart," "I am a poor refugee, I am to be pitied," and so on. Recently, divorced people have an opportunity for an epiphany like this to occur. They often say, "If I am not Mark's Wife, Who AM I?" People who get fired get deeply traumatized not because they loved their job, but because they are lost without their identity.

Unfortunately, most of these folks never have time to dig and see beneath their false identity. They get remarried and get a new job because they miss the cloak.

If you can truly empathise and identify and LIVE the words, "Om Namo Bhagavate Vāsudevāya" or "Heavenly Father, Halo be they Name, They kingdom come..." without becoming a hermit, more power to you. But most of us have to experience being without anything to realize that it was nothing to being with. This is what it means to have God's will done on Earth (solid physical fleshly) as in Heaven (empty nothingness). These prayers both ask for all that we can see and touch to be as nothing like Heaven.

SYNONYMS

oḿ — O my Lord; namaḥ — my respectful obeisances unto You; bhagavate — unto the Personality of Godhead; vāsudevāya — unto Lord Kṛṣṇa, the son of Vasudeva.

TRANSLATION

O my Lord, the all-pervading Personality of Godhead, I offer my respectful obeisances unto You.

PURPORT

Vāsudevāya means "to Kṛṣṇa, the son of Vasudeva." Since by chanting the name of Kṛṣṇa, Vāsudeva, one can achieve all the good results of charity, austerity and penances, it is to be understood that by the chanting of this mantra, oḿ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya, the author or the speaker or any one of the readers of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is offering respectful obeisances unto the Supreme Lord, Kṛṣṇa, the reservoir of all pleasure. In the First Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, the principles of creation are described, and thus the First Canto may be called "Creation."
